A DRAMATIC 9-1-1 CALL FROM CALIFORNIA - REVEALS A DISPATCHER'S DESPERATE FIGHT TO SAVE A PATIENT - WHILE A NURSE REFUSES TO GIVE C-P-R.
LISTEN:
((STOP FOR SOTVO))
"DISPATCHER: We need to get CPR started that's not enough, ok? 
NURSE: Yeah, we can't do CPR at this facility.
Dispatcher: Then hand the phone to a passerby.  Anybody there can do CPR.  Give them the phone please."
((VO))
THAT CALL CAME FROM A RETIREMENT COMMUNITY  - AFTER AN 87-YEAR-OLD WOMAN HAD COLLAPSED.
FOR 7 MINUTES - THE 9-1-1 DISPATCHER PLEADS WITH THE NURSE TO TO DO C-P-R - BUT SHE REFUSES EXPLAINING COMPANY POLICY PROHIBITS IT -- BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT A SKILLED NURSING FACILITY.

"DISPATCHER: They're refusing CPR,they're going to let her die.  As a human being, I don't... Is there anybody there, that's willing to help this lady and not let her die?
NURSE: Not at this time."

THE PATIENT WAS EVENTUALLY TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL WHERE SHE DIED.
HER FAMILY SAYS THEY'RE SATISFIED WITH THE FACILITIES ACTIONS

WE NOW KNOW - THERE WERE 3 AMERICANS KILLED IN THE DEADLY HOSTAGE CRISIS IN ALGERIA:
GORDON ROWAN, VICTOR LOVELADY AND FRED BUTTACCIO

7 AMERICANS DID SURVIVE.  ONE MAN, STEVEN WYSOCKI, FROM COLORADO - MANAGED TO HIDE FROM THE TERRORISTS FOR TWO AND A HALF DAYS. AT TIMES THE TERRORISTS - JUST FEET AWAY.  HE TEXTED HIS WIFE ABOUT WHAT WAS HAPPENING. SHE HAD TO WAIT FOR WORD - HE WAS OK.

ANGER ERUPTED ON THE FLOOR AFTER LAWMAKERS LEARNED THERE WOULD BE NO VOTE ON AN AID PACKAGE FOR SUPERSTORM SANDY VICTIMS.
NEW YORK AND NEW JERSEY REPRESENTATIVES WERE EXPECTING A VOTE ON THE MEASURE BEFORE THE TERM ENDS TOMORROW.
BUT REPUBLICANS LEADERS SUDDENLY ENDED THE SESSION LAST NIGHT - PROMPTING OUTRAGE FROM BOTH SIDES.
((STOP FOR SOT))

     After some last minute changes, the plan passed both the Ohio House and Senate today.

     Now, the district can take action faster, when schools and teachers don't measure up.
     Teachers layoffs won't be based only on seniority, but performance too.
     If the levy passes in November, charter schools will share some of those tax dollars.
     One big change, the mayor will not have the power to approve charter schools, just recommend them.

     So can you get this flesh-eating bacteria?
     Well it's found in fresh water, and in brackish water, which is water that contains salt, but not as much as salt water.
     It enters a body through an open wound, it gives off toxins that destroy skin and soft tissue.
     It's difficult to diagnose early, but you should look out for pain coming from a closed wound, as well as redness or drainage.

     Tonight, the Cleveland city council approved a plan to find a private company to take over city-owned Highland Park Golf Course
     Under a ten-year deal, a company will cover the management, marketing and maintenance of the course.
     It's a 36 hole course, that has cost the city more to run, than it brought in.
     The City already leased its Seneca Golf Course to the Metroparks.
