My name is Caitlin Kollar.  I've been in broadcasting for seven years, and I've been producing for four and a half years.  I'm currently working as a freelance writer for Fox and Friends at Fox News in New York.

College is when I discovered I wanted to go into broadcasting, but it wasn't until I actually started working that I realized the true impact of our business.

I had just been hired as an Associate Producer for WBNS-TV in Columbus, Ohio, and I'd only been on the job a few days when our station covered the homecoming of Lima Company, 3/25 Marines.  Hundreds of people lined the streets of Columbus to welcome home this battered unit from Iraq.  I was moved to tears, as were many others in the newsroom, at the outpouring of support from our city to these troops. I learned that day the true power of telling a story and engaging an audience.

When I choose stories or write stories, I do it with the viewer in mind.  I choose stories that affect them the most, that can teach, empower, and engage.

At WKYC-TV, I challenged myself to learn new skills and grow as a producer and employee.  I began as a News Assistant, but through hard work and perseverance, I worked my way up to the role of 11 PM producer. I set out everyday to build a newscast with dynamic and engaging stories.  But I've also focused on finding new, creative ways to present the story, working more production into the shows, while keeping up the pace. I also tried to engage the viewer through social media and other interactive segments in the newscasts.

While at WKYC, I was trusted to produce several specials for the station, including The Voice: Cleveland Votes, a local singing competition we put together; 2012 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction special, live from the Rock Hall; and 2009, 2010, and 2011 Race for the Cure special, a live production of the race itself.  Each of the specials involved a high level of organization and prioritization on my part, as well as managing and delegating to a crew of at least 10 people for each show.

I am also a multi-media journalist with experience shooting and editing stories for shows as well as other news platforms.

On this site, you'll find my resume, examples of my work, including guest segments, live segments, my resume tape and writing samples.
